Our Washington Navel variety — also known simply as Navel — is recognised by its characteristic “navel” at the base of the fruit. The skin displays a deep flame-orange to coral tone. Inside, the segments separate effortlessly. The flesh is full-bodied and inviting in colour — seedless, gentle on the palate, with no bitterness.
The peel is notably thin, unlike conventional fertiliser-grown oranges, which develop a much thicker skin (called scurzusa in Sicilian dialect). That extra thickness adds weight but nothing of value.
Because our oranges are grown 100% naturally, the peel is completely safe to use in cooking — perfect for desserts, liqueurs, and risottos.
